Holiday Drinks & Sweets, Because You (Still) Deserve a Treat

At the end of 2020 we published a Holiday Cocktail Recipes & Sweets Guide, thinking that we all deserved a treat just for getting through the year. Well, a year later we still deserve a treat for enduring another rough year! So, whether your preference is for a drink or a sweet (or both) we’ve got just the thing for you. Here are delicious, locally crafted drinks and sweets made from the finest ingredients perfect for gift giving or celebrating during the holidays. And we’ve included a few options for those with dietary restrictions – because you deserve a treat too. Happy Holidays!

Left: Bring extra light and cheer (and cake) to holiday gatherings this year with Speculoos + Red Currant seasonal winter flavor from Butter&. They incorporated both creamy cookie butter and cookie crumbles to bring the texture of speculoos buttercream to life, paired with a house-made red currant jam for that added tartness.

Right: Cashew ice cream from Mr. Dewie’s is dairy free, gluten free, soy free, additive free, and vegan. Delicious on its own, in a cone, or served with holiday cake or pie!

Left: Both elegant and earthy, Spiced Pear Liqueur from St. George Spirits has all the complexity of a perfectly ripe Bartlett pear. Cinnamon and clove add a warm touch of spice. Drink on it’s own, or in a cocktail such as the pictured Spiced Pear Old Fashioned. Photo by Nicola Parisi.

Right: Made in the Napa Valley using fresh, local ingredients, Mommenpop is juicy and flavorful. It’s easy to drink on its own over ice, delicious in a spritz (with tonic water, beer, cider, or sparkling wine), and excellent in boozier cocktails (think Negronis, Palomas, Manhattans, Martinis, Americanos). For a simple comparison, you can use Mommenpop the way you would Lillet, Aperol or Campari. There are countless ways to use it, no matter the occasion. The Mommenpop Sample Pack includes their 3 aperitif flavors: Seville Orange, Blood Orange and Ruby Grapefruit. Photo by Nicola Parisi.

Left: From Recchiuti Confections, the Merry & Bright Truffles box is the chocolate assortment voted “Best Chocolate Box” by the New York Times’ Wirecutter four years in a row. The best-selling collection holds 16 pieces of their most popular handmade confections including signature Burnt Caramel, Kona Coffee, Piedmont Hazelnut, and Force Noir.

Right: Homage to classic Northern Italian espresso, Organic Reserve Espresso from Linea is unforgettably sweet, clean and balanced. It’s magnificent when blended with steamed milk as a cappuccino or macchiato, and lovely prepared as French Press, Chemex, syphon, AeroPress or pour-over. Espresso Cup by Heath Ceramics.

Left: Made with grapes from Haynes Vineyard in Coombsville, Napa Valley, the 2019 Pinot Noir from Aesop Wines has notes of dusty strawberries, honeysuckle, iris, cedar, cantaloupe, and vanilla spice. A light bodied clean entry introduces flavors of Bing cherry, rhubarb, raspberry and red licorice. The wine is balanced with light mid palate tannins and a long fresh acidity.

Right: Barrel Reserve Sloe Gin from Spirit Works Distillery is a full-bodied liqueur, rested in oak barrels, with notes of dark cherry, clove, cardamom, and orange peel. This incredible aged sloe gin is most often enjoyed as a digestif on its own, but is known to show up in specialty cocktails around the Bay Area.

Left: Delicious artisanal Peppermint Candy White Chocolate Bark from Wooden Table Baking Co. will not only blow your mind – and taste buds – but the Peppermint Candy also freshens your breath and is a natural antiseptic that helps keep your teeth and gums healthy. Who would’ve known all the benefits Christmas Spirit brings?

For this season’s brew they partnered with Admiral Maltings to design a malt profile that balances both the sweetness and bitterness of this classic style. The resulting flavor is both smooth and nuanced with notes of chocolate, a sherry aroma, cocoa nibs, and dark fruits.

Right: The Whisky Tasting Kit from 10th Street Distillery includes 50ml bottles of each of their following award-winning whiskies: California Coast Blend (42% ABV), STR Unpeated (46% ABV), Peated (46% ABV), Peated Distillers Cut (44% ABV), Peated Wine Cask Finish (50% ABV), and Peated Cask #169 (57.6% ABV).
