There is no shortage of love songs in most genres of music, and Rock is no exception. Indeed, a playlist of Rock & Roll love songs requires some serious editing. For this mix we were inspired by the track Lover’s Rock from The Clash’s 1979 masterpiece, London Calling. Although emerging from the Punk Rock scene, they incorporated eclectic influences including Reggae, Ska, Rockabilly, R&B, Pop, Lounge Jazz, and Hard Rock to create a groundbreaking album that is widely regarded as one of the greatest Rock & Roll records ever made. Spanning about fifty years, the playlist includes well-worn classics we never get tired of hearing, along with gems by lesser know artists. For this mix we stuck with male vocalists – maybe we’ll do a female Lover’s Rock next.
