Bartenders Fight Cancer: A Fundraiser for the Stagger Lee Goods Family

A few months ago the unthinkable happened to the owner and maker behind Stagger Lee Goods. Alfred Ramos’s beautiful 3 year-old daughter Vivian was diagnosed with Medullobastoma, a rare cancerous brain tumor. Since then the San Francisco maker of aprons and bags has been on the arduous journey of steering his baby girl through cancer treatment.

Throughout this difficult time, Alfred and his partner Lauren Bingham have been building relationships with other parents and cancer survivors, and realized that they’re not alone. In Alfred’s words, “a positive attitude and the kindness of strangers really goes a long way. And we remind each other that we have to keep moving forward, that we must be strong for our families, and we must rise to the occasion.”

For all those reasons, Stagger Lee Goods is participating in a fundraiser on May 21st at Forgery cocktail bar in San Francisco, with proceeds benefiting Alfred’s family and a nonprofit organization that he has befriended at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. The Emilio Nares Foundation helps families in need of help with day-to-day tasks, food, places to stay, financial support, rides to treatment appointments, and more.

Join them for a night of cocktails, spirit tasting and live music. Collin Nicholas (Uncommon Projects) in collaboration with Forgery will host a fundraiser cocktail pop-up featuring brands including Bombay Sapphire, Bacardi, Ketel One, Woodford Reserve, Fords, Partida, Zephyr, Magdalena Rum, Martini, Giffard, Cointreau, Fernet Branca, Carpano Antica, Stagger Lee Goods, Tactile Craftworks and 3 Fish Studios. They will be offering three unique cocktail menus produced by three local bartenders, a Fords gin and tonic station, a Fernet fountain, and portfolio/spirit tastings. Additionally, they will hold a raffle for a chance to win exclusive Stagger Lee, Tactile Craftwork, 3 Fish Studios goods and other secret prizes. Ramos will be promoting a line of golden brown aprons, along with a pin of hope, Vivian’s mantra, “I will beat you.”

A cocktail themed fundraiser makes perfect sense for Stagger Lee Goods: Alfred has worked for the hospitality industry in San Francisco and makes aprons and bags geared towards bartenders. Featured local bartenders include Tammy Hagans (Barcino), Caleb Kimbley (Forgery) and Christian ‘Suzu’ ‘Suzuki (Benjamin Cooper). Live music will be provided by Shawn Steele.
