Left: Cabernet Sauvignon from Ultraviolet Wines has soft, round, velvety tannins and aromas of violets, blackberry, blueberry, with notes of pie spice and bramble. It’s 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the red hills AVA located east of St. Helena, at the base of a volcano (1500 feet of elevation). The Cabernet Franc comes from the Coombsville, Napa AVA.
Right: Ethiopia Natural from Contraband Coffee Roasters is over the top with fruity aromatics. Pronounced blueberry and strawberry flavors are unrelenting throughout the cup. The aftertaste has secondary flavors like chocolate and chai and finishes with hibiscus. It’s amazing that so many exotic flavors can come from this coffee cherry which looks more like a raisin when it’s drying in the sun.
