Two Healthier, Chocolaty Dessert Recipes from Just Date Syrup

Fudgy Chocolate Cookies

Everyone needs a go-to chocolate cookie, so consider this our gift to you. Gooey and thick, this rich chocolate cookie is grain-free, vegan, and refined sugar free, only sweetened with just date syrup. It’s the quintessential paleo cookie recipe, and one you’ll make on repeat. We’d recommend it with a glass of cold nut milk – tonight.

• Preparation 15 minutes
• Cook 15 minutes
• Serves 8-10


• 1 cup almond butter (only 100% works here, with no added oils, etc.)
• 3/4 cup Just Date Syrup
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/4 cup cacao powder
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 6 tablespoon almond flour

1. Preheat the oven to 350 and line a tray with parchment or a silicone baking sheet
2. Stir 1 cup almond butter with date syrup until well mixed.
3. Add the cinnamon, vanilla extract, and then cacao, stirring well after each ingredient.
4. Add olive oil next
5. Mix the baking soda and almond flour together in a small bowl. Then add the mixture to the wet mixture slowly, mixing well after each tablespoon.
6. Roll into balls and flatten into discs on a silicone baking sheet. Sprinkle with large flake sea salt.
7. Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the edges are browning, remove, and let cool before diving in!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

So many of us grew up loving chocolate peanut butter cups, but they are often full of preservatives and refined sugar. The solution? We’ve cleaned up the classic peanut butter cup recipe with the help of Just Date Syrup! The rich caramel notes from Just Date Syrup perfectly compliment chocolate and peanut butter in this healthier, delicious homemade recipe. And just between us – we think it’s better than the original! The addition of Just Date Syrup also boasts a low glycemic index, high antioxidant value, potassium, magnesium, fiber, zinc – the list goes on. We’re all about exceptional nutrition and exceptional flavor in our test kitchen, and this recipe checks all of those boxes.

As a note – these keep best in the fridge or freezer. We suggest serving them right before you enjoy them, which shouldn’t be a problem – these are always devoured immediately when we serve them to kids and adults alike!


Bottom Chocolate Layer

• 2 tablespoons Just Date Syrup
• 1/3 cup of creamy peanut butter (almond butter or sunflower seed butter work in this recipe as well)
• 2.5 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
• 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract
• pinch of salt

Peanut Butter Layer

• 2 tablespoons Just Date Syrup
• 1/3 Cup of creamy peanut butter (almond butter or sunflower seed butter work in this recipe as well)
• 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
• 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract
• flaky sea salt for garnish

1. Combine all ingredients for chocolate layer in a mixing bowl until smooth, and set aside.
2. Combine all ingredients for peanut butter layer in a separate mixing bowl until smooth, and set aside.
3. Line a muffin tin with mini muffin liners and spray with coconut oil, or spray a silicone mold with coconut oil.
4. Spoon the chocolate mixture into the molds until they are filled about halfway, repeat with the peanut butter layer.
5. Top with flaky sea salt, and place in the freezer until firm. Store these in the freezer until right before serving.
