Super Refreshing Drinks & Cocktails to Beat the Summer Heat

Thirsting for a tasty drink to beat the summer heat? Here are some locally crafted, easy to make and serve quenchers sure to hit the spot.

Veso

The Eclipse Negroni

An easy, two ingredient Negroni variation. Lighter, brighter, and less syrupy than a traditional Negroni, with a crunchy bitterness from the bitter citrus, and warm notes of alpine herbs like fennel and juniper.

1 1/2 oz Veso Eclipse Bitter Citrus
1 1/2 oz Veso Eclipse Alpine
Lemon Peel for garnish

Stir all ingredients over ice, and then strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon peel.

Eclipse is an experimental line of aperitifs. Like the solar eclipse, these don’t come around often and won’t last long. Veso Eclipse Alpine was inspired by the versatility and complexity of London Dry Gin. It’s a similarly complex, yet delicate, aperitif with new flavors to discover on every sip. This aperitif tastes and smells like walking through an Alpine mountain meadow. Veso Eclipse Bitter Citrus aims to honor the big and bold flavors of traditional European Amari while staying true to the wine aperitif form and using California ingredients. It packs a punch of bitterness and tart citrus, balanced by a subtle sweetness. This aperitif tastes like biting into a fresh, ripe grapefruit rind – bright, tart, and pleasantly bitter.

St. George Spirits

Green Chile Margarita

1 oz St. George Green Chile Vodka
1 oz blanco tequila
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz agave nectar, honey syrup, or simple syrup

Combine all ingredients with ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass over ice and garnish with lime.

St. George Green Chile Vodka paints a portrait of perfectly picked peppers. Master distiller Lance Winters created it to capture the kaleidoscope of flavor found in fresh peppers. Jalapeños, serranos,
habañeros, and bell peppers build layers of soft, sweet heat, while lime and cilantro add a chef’s touch.
