A Guide to San Rafael from the Women behind Rough Linen

Founded by Tricia Rose in 2009, Rough Linen designs and sews luxurious kitchen and table linens, bedding, bath, décor and apparel in their San Rafael facility. We’re delighted that they’ll be hosting our Holiday Market in their beautiful showroom on December 7th & 8th. We asked Tricia and CEO Daiva Finell, both San Rafael residents, for some of their favorite spots and things to do in and around San Rafael. Here’s what they came up with.

Tricia loves China Camp State Park, a heaven for walking, biking or driving, where she feels miles from anywhere, just sitting on the dock of the bay.

Daiva swears by the Sunday Marin Civic Center Farmers Market at the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Marin Civic Center, a must for local goodies. The architecture isn’t too shabby either.

Tricia haunts the San Rafael library on E Street. She says there is nothing like the heft of a book, and goes through 2-5 a week – usually pre-ordered so she can just run in.

Daiva is a big fan of Sol Food Puerto Rican cuisine in downtown San Rafael, especially their combination plate Pollo al Horno – a must have! (l). And for its healthy lunches and baked goods, Rustic Bakery in the Marin Country Mart (r).

Riley Street Art Supplies on 4th Street in downtown San Rafael is a favorite of Tricia’s, especially before the Thursday evening San Rafael Summer Market.

Mooching around Sloat Garden Center for her garden fix is one of Tricia’s favorite activities.
